What started as a side project, Digital Walrus blossomed into a thriving business. It all began with the creation of an iPhone app, ‘IMDrunk,’ which enjoyed a brief but significant period of success. This journey taught me the intricacies of online marketing, a skill that I used to promote the app and elevate its popularity.

Back in 2008, Apple made a big announcement that “Indy Developers” could create “apps” for their new iPhone. I was thrilled about the opportunity and decided to create “IMDrunk.” To my surprise, the app became a hit and was featured on the “New and Notable” page on iTunes for almost a week. However, the excitement didn’t last long as I soon realized that if I wanted to keep “IMDrunk” successful, I needed to learn how to market it. At that time, getting a lot of downloads was easy for most iPhone apps, but as the competition grew, marketing became crucial to maintain success.

At “Indy Developer” meetups, I started giving talks about developing “apps” marketing and running a small business.

My journey as a Software Developer began early—I was already ‘the computer guy’ among my first co-workers. My passion for programming was ignited when I received a computer as a Christmas gift in 1981. Within hours, I had written my first program, and within a year, I was publishing my programs.  

After finishing college, I was fortunate enough to get a job as “The computer guy” – we didn’t even call it “IT – Information Technology” back then. However, I always had a passion for entrepreneurship, and soon enough, I was able to contribute to the development of an accounting software package for construction companies that was sold globally.

In 1998, I founded Silicon Business Systems, an Information Technology Consulting company that rode the wave of the ‘Internet Boom‘. We were privileged to be part of the launch of some of the most popular websites. Despite the challenges of the dot-com bubble, we persevered and evolved. Today, we are an IT company that empowers small businesses with their computer systems.
